Amalgamate or Incorporate

Residents in Areas B & C continue to see land being annexed by the City of Vernon for more development. Under current regulations, there is little the residents can do to oppose annexation. More development means more traffic, less privacy, more water usage, more waste, more noise pollution, more light pollution and in general, more destruction of the way of life most of us wish to preserve. The link below "Amalgamate or Incorporate" outlines some of the options to consider for the protection of our lifestyle. You may email hivac@hivac.com if you have any comments on this or any other matter relating to the BX-Swan Lake Community.

I find it interesting that Area 'C' consits of the BX and Silver Star, but nowhere do I see Silver Star mentioned. I see BX, Swan Lake everywhere! Maybe the two areas BX and Swan Lake should be amalgamated and Silver Star should become its own identity!

On another note, can you please explane to me what "Rural Lifestyle" means? As part of Area 'C' do the residents of Silver Star have a "Rural Lifestyle"? Does this mean lower taxes for all, or what? Or are the Silver Star residents paying more than it should?

Cheers ted

The options are Amalgamate, Incorporate, or Status Quo. I live in Area C (BX) and do not want to join Vernon as this will virtually ensure densification, more ALR removals, and loss of rural lifestyle (why I live here). If I want to live in Vernon, I will move to Vernon. I favour the status quo.

There might be merit in Silver Star incorporating as a resort municipality like Whistler.

Rural lifestyle refers to just that. Silver Star resort is a resort lifestyle. That means you don't keep horses behind your ski condo. Pretty simple.
