Greetings Bloggers,
The new year has arrived and we will blog about a small number of topics.
First there is the "Official Community Plan". This is a large subject so we will cover the new information. Essentially, the O.C.P. is under review this year and there will be requests for input from the public. We shall cover more in detail on this subject soon. However, there will be notices or articles in the paper (or at least we expect there to be.) The association's AGM will have a speaker on this subject and we will have more of those details soon as well.
Second, the proposed park in the BX area or "Area C". It's a total of 166 acres for approximately 3.2 Million. A change or suggested option would be that the parcel be seperated into 2 parts. The flat part would conceiveably be sold and the 'hilly' area (that is adjacent to the Mutrie Road dog park) be the adopted park. Number of individuals disagreed. The general concenus was that it should remain a one parcel, despite the acquistion cost. Please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section.
Third, Winter Carnival has a "prehistoric theme" for this year's festivities. This event is quite large so we are will refer you to the 'magazine handout' (for free) at various local businesses. Activities are listed and numerous and we believe there is something for everybody, so to speak. If you like, please leave comments on your pleasurable experiences at these upcoming events. Of course, the biggest, or longest running event associated with the Winter Carnival is the Parade on mainstreet. Date of parade, Saturday, Febuary 2nd, commencing at 12PM (sharp!)
Fourth, is the Association's Annual General Meeting, April 2nd at the Best Western Vernon Lodge. More details to come, new members are welcome at the economical membership price of only Five dollars. Speakers list isn't finalized yet but there will be one (speaker) addressing the public input for the OCP, which we will mention in more detail after the next directorship meeting. Possibly some other topics will also be blogged about before the upcoming meeting.
This pretty much concludes this first blog of 2013. As always, comments, questions or suggestions are welcome below. Email address for the association is bxslca@hotmail.com if that is more your prerogative.
Until next time...
